Nha Trang weather at a glance
Monthly averages stay between about 76 and 85 °F (24 to 29 °C) all year, so the real question is rain. Vietnam's national tourism administration describes January to August as the preferred dry stretch and September to December as the rainy season. September already brings a sharp rise in rainfall, so do not shorten the wet season to October through December.
The figures below come from the Japan Meteorological Agency's climate normals for the Nha Trang station (1991 to 2020). They are long-term averages. They describe a typical month and say nothing about the weather on a given day in 2026.

One real year: monthly readings from 2025
Observed monthly averages of daily highs and lows, and total rainfall, from the same Japan Meteorological Agency station. A single year is not a climate, so use it only for a sense of scale.

| January | 80 / 70 °F (26.5 / 21.3 °C) | 1.5 in (38 mm) |
| February | 81 / 73 °F (27.0 / 22.8 °C) | 2.5 in (63 mm) |
| March | 85 / 76 °F (29.4 / 24.3 °C) | 1.6 in (40 mm) |
| April | 88 / 78 °F (30.9 / 25.4 °C) | 0.2 in (5 mm) |
| May | 92 / 80 °F (33.1 / 26.8 °C) | 1.9 in (47 mm) |

| July | 93 / 81 °F (34.1 / 27.4 °C) | 0.2 in (5 mm) |
| August | 91 / 80 °F (33.0 / 26.4 °C) | 3.1 in (80 mm) |
| September | 90 / 79 °F (32.3 / 26.0 °C) | 9.2 in (234 mm) |
| October | 87 / 78 °F (30.6 / 25.3 °C) | 16.7 in (423 mm) |
| November | 84 / 76 °F (29.0 / 24.7 °C) | 24.6 in (625 mm) |
| December | 83 / 76 °F (28.1 / 24.3 °C) | 4.2 in (106 mm) |
Notice how the 2025 numbers differ from the normals: February was wetter than its norm and December much drier. Individual months can land far from the average, which is why the seasons are a guide and not a promise.
Storms, warnings and the sea
Austria's foreign ministry warns of typhoons and tropical rainstorms across Vietnam during the rainy season from June to December (status 17 October 2026). That is a nationwide period and does not replace the local Nha Trang rainfall pattern above.
On 20 October 2026 the national weather service issued a warning that included Khanh Hoa: showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain of 10 to 30 mm and in places over 70 mm, with possible lightning and gusts. The same day's sea outlook for the stretch of coast from Gia Lai to Khanh Hoa gave waves of 1 to 2 m, possibly higher in thunderstorms. These are regional forecasts, not readings at the city beach.
Check the daily forecast before a boat day and follow the crew's decision if a trip is changed. Two planning notes for late 2026: the VinWonders cable car has an announced maintenance pause from 26 October to 10 November 2026, and the boat-based island trips depend on sea conditions. Our beaches guide covers where to swim in calmer weather.

Packing and timing
Pack light, breathable clothes, a hat, sunscreen and a compact rain jacket. In the wet months add quick-drying shoes and a waterproof bag for your phone. If your dates fall between September and December, build in spare days and keep boat or park bookings flexible where you can. If you are choosing between neighborhoods once you know your month, read where to stay in Nha Trang.
Continuing along the coast? Hoi An and Ha Long Bay each have their own weather guide for the month you plan to be there.
