Choosing an area in Nha Trang
Nha Trang is a coastal destination in Khanh Hoa province on Vietnam's southern central coast. The city beach and the islands in the bay are different places to stay, with different logistics. Pick the area first, then the hotel.
This page does not recommend hotels or quote room rates. Room prices depend on dates, so compare them on your own travel dates, and treat any area description below as a general guide to location, not a promise of how quiet or how good a particular hotel is.

Area by area
What to expect, and what to check before you book.
City beach and Tran Phu
The beach promenade is lined with restaurants, bars and hotels, and it is the easiest base if you want to walk to the sand, eat out and not rely on transport. The tourism administration describes the Tran Phu beach as roughly 6 to 7 km (about 4 mi) long, so check how far your hotel is from the part of the strip you want. See our beaches guide for the sand itself.
The north, near Po Nagar
The Cham towers of Po Nagar stand north of the center, so a hotel in this direction puts you close to the main cultural sight. A northern location alone says nothing about how quiet a hotel is, so read recent guest comments on noise.
Bai Dai
Bai Dai is its own stretch of coast to the south, outside the city beach section. Do not count on strolling from there to the Tran Phu promenade. Grab lists a Bai Dai to Nha Trang route, so a ride into town is possible, but check the fare in the app.
Hon Tre island
Hon Tre is the island that holds the VinWonders park. A hotel stay and a park ticket are separate products unless your room offer clearly says the entry is included. Our VinWonders guide covers tickets, and notes the cable car pause from 26 October to 10 November 2026.
Ninh Van Bay
This bay is reached by road and then by boat. As one example, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay lists transfers in 2026 at USD 64 per person each way by shared van and boat, USD 139 per person each way by private car and shared boat, and USD 191 per person each way by private car and private boat. Children aged 6 to 11 pay half, and children under 6 are free. These are transfer prices, not room rates, and other resorts differ.

Practical points before you book
Since 2025, Khanh Hoa has merged several local districts into new administrative units, including Nha Trang, Bac Nha Trang, Tay Nha Trang and Nam Nha Trang. An older hotel address may still show a former district name, so use the hotel's exact location on the map rather than the district name alone.
From the airport, plan about 45 to 60 minutes by private car and 50 to 60 minutes by bus, depending on where you are staying. Prices and options are on our Cam Ranh Airport page. If you are choosing between months, check Nha Trang weather first, because the rainy season runs from September to December.
Not sure Nha Trang is the right base? Compare with Hoi An, an old town on the central coast, or with Phu Quoc, an island in the south.
Where to stay in Nha Trang: frequently asked questions
What is the best area to stay in Nha Trang?
For a first visit, the city beach around Tran Phu is the simplest base, with restaurants, bars and hotels along the promenade. Choose another area if you want a resort reached by boat or a stay away from the city beach section.
Is it better to stay near the beach or near the airport?
Near the beach. The airport is about 30 km south of the city, and the ride is 45 to 60 minutes by private car, so staying close to it saves little time and puts you far from the sights.
Can I walk from Bai Dai to the city beach?
No, treat Bai Dai as a separate area. It lies outside the city beach section and is not part of the Tran Phu promenade. Use a taxi or Grab to get into town.
Does a hotel on Hon Tre include entry to VinWonders?
Not automatically. A hotel stay and a park ticket are separate unless your room offer states that entry is included, so read the offer before you book.
How much does it cost to get to Ninh Van Bay?
One resort lists 2026 transfers from USD 64 per person each way by shared van and boat, up to USD 191 by private car and private boat. Children aged 6 to 11 pay half and children under 6 travel free. Ask your own resort for its transfer terms.
